Active stewardship is the cornerstone of CFI's peak preservation work. CFI offers numerous ways for volunteers to get engaged and give back to the Fourteeners. Whether you're interested in swinging a trail tool on our current field projects, talking to other climbers about Leave No Trace ethics as a Peak Steward, signing up your group to Adopt-a-Peak, or putting your former experience to work as a Volunteer Crew Leader, we'd love to see you on the Fourteeners this summer!

Crews work out of backcountry and trailhead basecamps to build trails, reclaim erosion scars, and complete other important fieldwork. Check out our current projects to find out more and sign up to help out this season!

Peak Stewards are select individuals who are trained to provide educational information about Leave No Trace practices, trail and resource conditions, user behaviors, and compliance with Forest Service regulations. Visit our Peak Steward page to find out more about the program and sign up to volunteer!

Adopt-a-Peak groups assume responsibility for ongoing trail and restoration maintenance, as well as environmental monitoring, on specific Colorado Fourteeners. Visit our Adopt-a-Peak page to find out if this opportunity is a good fit for you group!

Volunteer Crew Leaders assist CFI professional staff with volunteer supervision on trail and restoration projects, as well as Adopt-a-Peak projects. If you have prior trail experience or just want to find out more, visit our Volunteer Leadership page.
