Chris Davenport Releases Book

Ski mountaineer Chris Davenport’s book detailing his recent successful ski descent of all 54 Fourteeners is now available! Ski the 14ers: A Visual Tribute to Colorado’s 14,000 Peaks from the Eyes of a Ski Mountaineer, from Capitol Peak Publishing, features over 400 color photos, a forward by legendary mountaineer Lou Dawson, and inspiring writing on Davenport’s Ski the 14ers project. The book is available now through Wolverine Publishing.

A portion of proceeds from the sale of Ski the 14ers will go toward the Colorado Fourteeners Initiative and the Colorado Avalanche Information Center. CFI would like to extend a huge thanks to Chris for his support of our efforts to protect and preserve Colorado’s Fourteeners!

CFI is hiring for the 2010 field season! CFI is hiring a total of 9 positions - 6 leadership positions, 2 crewmember positions, and 1 Outdoor Leadership Intern. All positions are field-based trail construction/maintenance positions. Applications were due March 3, but position opportunities may still be open - inquire by e-mailing us about remaining 2010 position openings.

Did you know that CFI contracts crews to work on Fourteener trail projects with us? These are great opportunities, especially for entry-level crewmember positions if you have either little or no trail construction/maintenance experience. For details, see below.

Southwest Conservation Corps (SCC) - will work with CFI on Sunlight and Windom Peaks (Chicago Basin, near Durango, CO). Specify interest in Fourteener projects in your inquiry or application. For inquiries about:

Rocky Mountain Youth Corps (RMYC) - will work with CFI on Mt Yale (near Buena Vista, CO). Specify "CFI" on your application where it asks "How did you hear about RMYC jobs?"
