Lloyd Athearn, Executive Director
Lloyd joined CFI in 2009 after three years serving as the deputy director of the Colorado Conservation Trust, a community foundation for private land conservation efforts, where he oversaw the organization's development, communications, finance and administration functions. Previously he spent 10 years as the deputy director of the American Alpine Club, where he oversaw public policy, publishing, media relations, development and membership marketing. Lloyd has extensive experience working with land managers across the country to protect alpine terrain, develop new protocols for removing human waste from heavily used climbing peaks and preserve the wilderness climbing experience. His mountain conservation work has been recognized by the National Park Service and the American Alpine Club, while his communication efforts have won national awards. Greg Seabloom, Field Programs Manager
Greg joined CFI's permanent staff in 2005 after completing a season with CFI as an Adopt-a-Peak Supervisor. Greg previously coordinated trail projects for Pacific Northwest Trail Association and Lory State Park. Greg has a background in trail design, natural resources and wilderness leadership. Greg now oversees CFI’s seasonal trail crews, Adopt-a-Peak program, volunteer programs, design work, and outreach efforts. You can reach him at greg@14ers.org, or at 303-278-7650.
Brian Wallace, Education and Outreach Coordinator
Brian first started working for CFI in 2003 as a Crew Leader on the North Halfmoon route on Mt. Massive. In 2004 he was the Lead Site Supervisor on Wetterhorn Peak and in 2006 supervised the Adopt-a-Peak staff. Brian completed his Bachelors degree in Environmental Studies and his Masters degree in Environmental Education from Prescott College and returned to CFI as the Education and Outreach Coordinator in April 2009. His thesis, entitled “Stewardship and Education as Catalysts to Caring for Nature” explored the trends in attitudes and values toward nature in Colorado’s “14er” culture. Jerry Mack, Controller
Jerry joined CFI in September 2009 after 11 years as the controller and network administrator of the American Alpine Club, a national climbing and mountaineering organization. Previously, he spent 16 years in public finance in Denver. As a native Coloradan, Jerry grew up hiking and camping in the Rockies with his family where he gained an early appreciation of the environment and conservation. By the mid-‘90s Jerry had climbed all of the Fourteeners, and has climbed in many parts of the world, including Alaska, Canada, South America, Europe and Nepal. Jerry received his Bachelors in Accounting from the University of Colorado and is a Certified Public Accountant.
