The Colorado Fourteeners Initiative (CFI) is seeking groups to join us in preserving Colorado’s 14,000' peaks. CFI volunteers and staff have been working hard, completing restoration and sustainable route construction on many of the Fourteeners. However, due to the harsh conditions and number of users on the Fourteeners, continuous maintenance will be critical to the long-term success of CFI’s restoration and construction efforts. CFI’s Adopt-a-Peak Program was developed to ensure that Fourteener routes and restoration projects receive the regular maintenance needed to prevent future problems and promote full recovery from past impacts.

What is the Adopt-a-Peak Program

Through the Adopt-a-Peak Program, partnering groups will help maintain their chosen Fourteener by providing funds and/or hosting annual work projects. The work projects include:

  • Regular maintenance of the standard route
  • Repairing structures that have deteriorated
  • Restoring new impacts as they develop and old impacts that are not recovering well

Adopt Groups recruit volunteers for their projects and bring at least 10 people for a minimum of two days of work on their adopted peak.

How to become an Adopt Group

If your group is interested in adopting a peak, whether you have a specific peak in mind or not, please contact Greg Seabloom, at 303.278.7650 or greg@14ers.org.
